Lifestyle Clotheslines is now offering a clothesline installation service for all outdoor clothesline products purchased through our website.

We have a dedicated team of installers throughout Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra, plus many other major cities in Australia, who take the hassle out of installing your new clothes line. A flat rate of $159.00 is charged for a standard installation*, with other services such as old clothes line removal and core hole drilling also available for a additional fee's.

Clotheslines can be installed into and onto most surfaces commonly found today, including grass or soil ground areas, concrete slabs, pavers, tiles, concrete walls, and brick walls.

For installation onto a weatherboard house or a fence (timber, colorbond, etc), it is technically possible, but this type of installation is not recommended by Lifestyle Clotheslines and our installers will generally not install to this type of surface. In most situations, we do offer another alternative to this type of installation, such as installing the clothesline to a ground mount kit directly in front of the weatherboard or fence.

(*) Standard meaning no rock or concrete obstructions
If rock is struck when digging or the clothesline needs to be installed into rock, an extra charge of $80.00 will be charged for jackhammering.

Taking away of the old line is $60.00 to cut off and remove. This means that your old clothesline will be cut off at the very ground level and dismantled and disposed of from your premises. Please note the old concrete in the ground will not be dug out and removed.

A core drilling service is also available for those installations that require it. This service is best used when installing clotheslines into paving, concrete pads or decks and solid rock formations. The cost for this service is $100.00 per hole, however this may vary depending on your area.

As a point of guidance, our installers Core Hole Drill at a diameter of 125mm to 250mm.

The Austral Indoor and Outdoor clothesline is ideally suited to anyone with low washing demands. Perfect for the laundry, bathroom or garage, this model gives lots of line space in a compact mini foldown clothesline.

With 8.3m of line and 7 lines to hang, the Indoor Outdoor model offers enough line for practicality without sacrificing space around the home. Made from tough galvanised steel and a Surfmist powdercoated finish, it will provide years of reliable and durable service inside and out.

Can I make the width of my Austral Fold Down clothesline smaller? Yes, this is very easy to do, just trim down the front bar before assembly to reduce the width. Can I get a special colour for my clothesline? No, the Austral clotheslines are only available in the colour/s shown on each Product Page. Can I install the clothesline in the ground instead of on the wall? With most models, yes. Just check the Product Page for a ‘Ground Mount Kit’ option. What does ‘Standard’ ground mount kit mean? This is the type of post kit that you will need if you are installing the posts into a grass/soil area in the back yard. It is 2 x Posts(approx. 2200mm long) and 1 x Rear Spreader Bar. This is the most common type of post kit. What does ‘Plated’ ground mount kit mean? A Plated kit allows you to bolt the posts down onto an existing concrete area rather than core drilling or jack hammering holes into the concrete. The posts have metal plates welded on the bottom with holes for dyna-bolting down onto the concrete. It is 2 x Posts(approx. 1800mm long) and 1 x Rear Spreader Bar. Can I install a fold down clothesline on a wall other than brick? Yes you can but you will just need to make sure the mounting brackets align with the structural supports in the wall. If not you may be able to customise the width of the clothesline(see above) to suit the supports. Another solution would be to purchase a Ground Mount Kit(if available) with the clothesline and install it freestanding in front of the wall. Can I install a fold down clothesline on a fence? Yes, this is very similar to mounting on a non-brick wall, the mounting brackets would need to align with the fence posts and they would have to be nice and solid. You will also need to check council regulations in your area to see if this is allowed. A freestanding Ground Mount Kit is an alternative once again. What is the best height for installing a fold down clothesline? A general rule of thumb is to install the top bolt of the fixing bracket at approx. 50mm above the users head height. An average height is approx. 1800mm but you can adjust this to suit your requirements. Can I proceed with the wall mounted installation of my foldown clothesline if the wall is shorter than the clothesline length? Yes. All Austral folding frame units have tubular steel front bars that may be shortened using a hack saw or angle grinder. You just need to reduce the front bar by the required length before inserting into pre-assembled side arms during installation. I have a cement path down the side of my house, yet not enough wall space to wall mount a fold down clothesline. Is there another option that will allow me to utilise this space? Yes. Austral manufactures Foldown Ground Mount Kits and Retractable Posts with welded metal base plates. These plated kits are pre-drilled and powdercoated for direct fixing onto cement slabs and tiled floors. The alternative is to core drill a neat hole in which you can install the upright legs. Is the Austral Indoor Outdoor suitable to be used as an extra clothesline for wet weather drying? Yes. This unit is appropriate for use within laundries, bathrooms, carports, garages and verandahs, offering lots of line space and flexibility for wet weather drying. How easy is the Austral Indoor Outdoor Foldown line to operate? The Austral Indoor Outdoor foldown unit has a simple one-handed operation to raise or lower the frame. Pull the clothesline up with one hand until it locks into position. Push up firmly to release the catch and allow the line to fold down.

Please keep in mind some products are of a 'Made to Order' nature and may take a little longer. Rural and regional areas can take longer, up to approx. 12 - 19 working days.

Installation

If you have ordered installation or want to have your new clothesline installed by one of our professional installers, please see the steps below which outline the order/installation process.

Step 1. Place your order online or over the phone by calling 1300 798 779

Step 2. Your order will be processed within 24 hours (Mon - Fri) and the details of your order are then sent to the warehouse and the appropriate installer.

Step 3. Depending on the product you have chosen and your location the clothesline will either be picked up from the warehouse or sent by courier to the installer.

Step 4. Once the clothesline installer has the clothesline and he is ready to do your installation, he will call you directly on the phone number provided to arrange the installation day with you. Please make sure you provide the most contactable phone number/s. The installer will bring the clothesline with him on the day of installation.

Step 5. This process generally takes approx. 1 - 3 weeks depending on seasonal demand.

Indoor clothesline

The measurement for the did the width of the line was slightly larger than described. This didn’t present a problem as I used the frame itself as a template to drill the necessary holes in the mortar. It seems like a good product so far and fits nicely above the bath and can be collapsed to sit flush against the wall.

I am very happy with the product. It went up on the wall in my laundry so I am able to air clothes. It means I don’t have to have a portable airier hanging around in the lounge room as I only have a two bedroom home with limited space. I like the fact that when it Is not in use it down out of the way.
