Number of Lines
In this article we will cover 1.7m wide clothesline options and which products are best suited for this 1.7m wide spacing or area that you've got to work with.
We will cover the different products that are available, the colour options, the mounting options suitable for your requirements, as well as the installation.
When taking into consideration a 1.7m wide spacing, the product that we recommend is the Eco 180 clothesline.
This product has a standard width of 1.8m wide, but we can customise it down to 1.7m, 1.75m, or 1.78m—whatever you've got to work with there, free of charge.
Please bear in mind that 1.7m is not a standard size from any clothesline manufacturer, but the Eco is one that we can customise in the factory for you at no extra charge.
The Eco Clotheslines are made in Australia fashioned from full-steel construction and you can see the quality of the wall brackets per the image shown above.
That’s solid-steel construction, steel arms, steel braces/struts—no plastic load-bearing components here that will become brittle and eventually break.
And if you don't need the clothesline, you simply fold it flat to the wall, out of the way, and it folds down nice and flat—decreasing the unpleasant look of unused clotheslines.
With the spacing of the Eco 180 clothesline for that 1.7m wide space, you have five different depth options as listed below:
So, for example, you could have a clothesline that is 1.7m wide by 1.5m long and then that will give probably about 24m of drying line space
That is a really handy amount of space to have over such a small area!
With the Eco range of clotheslines, you can also add an Eco Lowline attachment.
This is an optional extra you can add that gives you three extra lines at the back of the clothesline on a slightly lower frame.
The Eco lowline attachment simply connects to the main frame and folds down flat with that as well if you lower the main frame.
And if you didn't need it on any given day, you simply unhook it from the main frame, and it folds flat to the wall.
So, if you're really trying to maximise your line space in a very small area, the Eco Lowline attachment is something you may want to consider.
With the Eco Clotheslines, they do come in 6 standard colours.
These pretty much cover the spectrum of COLORBOND colours that are available and are the most in demand.
If you do have requirements outside of these 6, please let us know, as we may be able to help, we do have access to other COLORBOND colours.
Our recommendation for the 1.7m wide spacing is the Eco Clotheslines range.
They are handmade in Australia the old-fashioned way, so they're really built to last with full-steel construction.
They're designed in Australia, made in Australia. In all honesty, we find that things that are made locally are built so much better than products that come in from overseas.
Eco clotheslines come in a big range of modern colours, and that customisation, as well—completely free of charge! That is another top point.
With the mounting of the clothesline, the standard way would be a wall mount type of situation.
Mounting either on a brick or any sort of masonry but if you don't have a suitable wall surface to mount to, you can get a ground mount kit to attach the clothesline to.
As you can see on the image, the post is installed into grass or soil area. That's where the post gets concreted directly into the ground.
You can also get what's called a ‘plated ground mount kit’ this is where the posts have plates welded on the bottom for mounting to a concrete slab, the clothesline would just mount to this leg kit.
