We love our new line. It’s got plenty of space for our family of 6. The line doesn’t sag. It’s not bad looking either!
This is a great product, having changed from a Hills Hoist to this type of line , l'm pleasantly surprised on how good it is. Reasons to Get the Austral Addaline 35:
What's in the Box?
Updated 30 July 2021
Can I make the width of my Austral Addaline 35 clothesline smaller? Yes, this is very easy to do, just trim down the front bars of each frame before assembly to reduce the width. All you need to do this is a hacksaw or angle grinder or any other steel cutting equipment. Does the Addaline 35 actually have two folding frames? Yes it does, there is a smaller inner frame and a larger outer frame which can fold up and down independently of each other. This is really handy when you don't have a large load of washing to do, you can just have the small inner frame up and the larger frame down without taking up too much space. Can I get a special colour for the Addaline 35? No, this model is only available in Woodland Grey, Classic Cream, Monument, Dune and Surfmist colours as shown in the colour swatch image above. Can I get the Addaline 35 as a Wall Mounted clothesline? Yes, in fact the intial price displayed above is for the wall mount version, this is standard for of any of the Fold Down type clotheslines. To have it ground mounted like in the first image above you will need to add the Ground Mount Kit option to your order, this option is located on the right below the price displayed above. How does the Addaline 35 compare to other, similar clotheslines? To compare all of the Addaline 35's features against Hills, Austral and City Living clotheslines that are similar, then visit our Austral Addaline 35 clothesline comparison chart. What does ‘Standard’ Ground Mount Kit mean? This is the type of post kit that you will need if you are installing the posts into a grass/soil area in the back yard. It is 2 x Posts(approx. 2370mm long) and 1 x Rear Spreader Bar. This is the most common type of post kit and if you scroll through the images above you will see what the Standard Kit looks like. What does ‘Plated’ Ground Mount Kit mean? A Plated Kit allows you to bolt the posts down onto an existing concrete area rather than core drilling or jack hammering holes into the concrete. The posts have metal plates welded on the bottom with holes for dyna-bolting down onto the concrete. It is 2 x Posts(approx. 1865mm long) and 1 x Rear Spreader Bar. If you scroll through the images above you will see what the Plated Kit looks like. Are the Posts in the Ground Mount Kit the same colour as the clothesline or are they just plain steel? The posts are matched to the colour of the clothesline frame of your choosing, either Classic Cream or Woodland Grey. Is it possible to install the Addaline 35 on a wall other than brick? Yes you can but you will just need to make sure the mounting brackets align with the timber studs in the wall. If not you may be able to customise the width of the clothesline(see 1st question above) to suit the studs. The alternative is to purchase the optional Ground Mount Kit with the clothesline and install it freestanding in front of the wall. Can I install a fold down clothesline on a fence? Yes, this is very similar to mounting on a non-brick wall, the mounting brackets would need to align with the fence posts and they would have to be nice and solid. You will also need to check council regulations in your area to see if this is allowed. A freestanding Ground Mount Kit is an alternative once again. What is the best height for installing the Addaline 35 clothesline? A general rule of thumb is to install the top bolt of the fixing bracket at approx. 50mm above the users head height. An average height is approx. 1.8m(1800mm) but you can adjust this to suit your requirements, just keep in mind the Addaline 35 has a depth of 1.5m(1500mm) so the height has to be anything over this so that when it is folded down the frame won't hit the ground. Can I proceed with the wall mounted installation of my foldown clothesline if the wall is shorter than the clothesline length? Yes. All Austral folding frame units have tubular steel front bars that may be shortened using a hack saw or angle grinder. You just need to reduce the front bar by the required length before inserting into pre-assembled side arms during installation. Can I hang my sheets without the need to fold or gather them to fit on the clothesline? Yes. The Austral Addaline 35 has width of 2400mm, which easily fits a queen size sheet without folding or gathering. I have a cement path down the side of my house, yet not enough wall space to wall mount a fold down clothesline. Is there another option that will allow me to utilise this space? Yes. Austral manufactures Foldown Ground Mount Kits and Retractable Posts with welded metal base plates. These plated kits are pre-drilled and powdercoated for direct fixing onto cement slabs and tiled floors. The alternative is to core drill a neat hole in which you can install the upright legs. Is the Austral Addaline 35 suitable to be used as an extra clothesline for wet weather drying? Yes. This unit is appropriate for use within carports, garages and verandahs, offering lots of line space and flexibility for wet weather drying. How easy is the Austral Addaline 35 Foldown line to operate? The Austral Addaline 35 foldown unit has a simple one-handed operation to raise or lower the frame. Pull the clothesline up with one hand until it locks into position. Push up firmly to release the catch and allow the line to fold down.
